Firestone Firehawk

On our way to rent a tuxedo for Ernie and Sally’s wedding when road construction around the Mall caused us to circle around and come in the back way. I guess there is a reason for everything since we ran right into this big inflatable in front of the Firestone dealer by the Mall. The Chief Photographer had her camera with her so it was only a matter of just jumping out and getting the photo.

You’re Getting Sleepy

My favorite Birdog and #1 fan called me to say that this Serta Sheep was going to be in front of the hh gregg stores headquarters. Karen told me about other items as well, like the Kissmobile she spotted. hh gregg is a regional, going national, appliance and electronics store. They’ve had other inflatables out front in the past like the Sirius Satellite radio dog.

Meridian Street Ghost

Well I guess this image should be in the Big People tab.  We were driving down Meridian Street in Indianapolis, between 86th and 96th street when we spotted this Big Ghost. I’m not sure if a ghost should be on a Big People tab, but what is a ghost but the current state of a past person.

Cheesy Photo

The Oscar Mayer car was there, of course. And Mr. Mustard as well. I can’t begin to tell you how much unexpected fun this experience was. They even had a car show, of course all the cars were painted mustard yellow. Are you ready for a good pun. This cheese photo makes for a pretty “cheesey” photo. Get it? Not much to get anyway was there?

Indianapolis Gorilla

Halloween has gotten to be a bigger event then I remember as a kid. Oh, we dressed up, went begging, maybe even soaped a window or too, but I don’t rememeber all the temporary shops that spring up. So many in fact they look like Starbucks. On Keystone and Ruth Drive in Indianapolis there are two shops across the street from each other (one of them next to a Starbucks, by the way.) Anyway after getting a Grande Pumpkin Latte low fat, etc coffee we stopped to grap this inflatable.

Do-It-Best Caulk

I was at the Do-It-Best Hardware seasonal show here in Indianapolis. We are a new vendor to Do-It-Best and this was a great experience for someone who likes walking around the hardware section of the store. In fact, Ben and I used to go to the hardware store just to walk around and look at the tools. A father son experience!

Chick fil a – About Time!

I’ve wanted this Inflatable for quite a while now. At times I’ve seen it up in front of one of the Chick fil a restaurants. Without a doubt I saw this inflatable and didn’t have a camera with me or my most favorite photographer. This time the planets were in alighnment and me, the inflatable and the photographer were all together. Hooray!

Dunkin’ Donuts

This Big Coffee Cup was out front of the new Dunkin’ Donuts opened here in town a few years ago. I didn’t post the image for some reason. It’s ironic that I found the image since recently there was a major fire that destroyed the store. No more nutty donuts! Too bad.  (Update:  The store is back in business, with a added drive-thru.)

NASCAR Cellphone

Another Oldie but Goodie. I just rediscovered this shot in the archieves. Ben gave me tickets for an Indianapolis Indians game as a Father’s Day present. Which, of course, meant he was coming in for a visit. Well, the tickets were for the same weekend as the NASCAR Brickyard race. Never having been to a NASCAR race I bought tickets. Long story short, this inflatable was in the lot outside the raceway. PS. Jimmie Johnson, my driver, won there again.

St. Johns Beer

We were on our way from Indianapolis to the cottage Up North in Michigan and stopped to see my Uncle Ed in St Johns, Michigan. We went out for lunch and then downtown to find some Czech pastries. We missed out on the pastries since the bakery closed at 1pm, but these was a celebration of the 150th Anniversary of the St Johns Fire Department. We came across this big Miller Lite bottle right there in downtown.

Big Ketchup

I just filled up the Big Thingsmobile (See the Kissmobile and Oscar Meyer Mobile below) and was going into Sam’s when out in the parking lot was a NASCAR showcar. It was the weekend of the Brickyard after all and the town was celebrating NASCAR. One of this car’s sponsor was Heinz and there was this inflatable Heinz squeezable bottle. Since Deb was out of town I was on my own to get a photo. Fortunately Ann Wilson was working the exhibit with her husband. She was most gracious and took this photo for me.

Corona in Tulum

It was a HOT and sunny day in Tulum, Mexico. We had walked out to the Mayan ruins, poked around for a couple of hours and then walked back. I was feeling pretty wiped out. When, lo, Deb said “look at that will you.” And there it was, this big Corona bottle. So I went into the park store and had a couple to cool down. Hey, Karen, I bet if you drank this whole bottle of Corona, you would get up and dance the Macarena.

Herff-Jones Ring

I get a lot of calls from people I know saying, “Hey, you have to get to…” and then tell me about a Big Thing Sighting. This time it was Deb at Fishers High School, the new school in the Hamilton Southeastern system. I left work and rushed over. We had to move some of the Herff-Jones set-up, they were very helpful as a matter of fact. Nothing like an unexpected find.

Ready for the Super Bowl

I haven’t had the opportunity to experience a city with a team playing in the Super Bowl, having grown up in Detroit (not a chance) and Philadelphia (eventually.) Indianapolis was a lot of fun, a small-Big City and did they support the team. Outside lights on building changed to blue and at this car dealer a big guy. Deb and I were driving on I-465 and spotted this guy. We had to circle back, I climbed over a fence and here’s the result. Thanks Bill Estes Chevrolet for the team support.

Big Pennzoil

Since I moved to Indiana 3 years ago, (WOW!) I’ve become a auto racing fan, (how can you not?) and know that Pennzoil keeps engines running smoother, longer. At least that’s what I learned. While this is another inflatble at the Wal-Mart opening I will gladly add it to my web site.

Rogers Castrol Oil

Wal-Mart, Wal-Mart, Wal-Mart. Another inflatable in Rogers. But I take ’em as available. I have no recommendation on Castrol vs. Pennzoil. You make the choice. I spent the night in the “Frisco Suite” at the Embassey Suites in Rogers, AR. I highly recommend it. (Thanks again Karla! And I hijacked the HH points as well.)

Wal-Mart Michelin Man

I was lucky to get this inflatable outside a Wal-Mart Grand Opening in Rogers, look Arkansas. Since this store is close to the Home Office there was a lot of activity. It was pretty windy that day and I got this image early. When Karla, Mike and I left the store later, this inflatable was down for the count. Hopefully their tires last longer.
